in some countries in Europe the mandatory health insurance was some kind of a little revolution.
What it means is that if somebody can not afford it the government has to pay the bill partly or completely for basic medical coverage.
The government and the insurances will then try to put down costs or make pressure to reduce costs in hospitals if possible.

That thread really should be redirected to here.
I agree with you that the cost of health care is inflated, and that this is perhaps the greatest burden upon society. I think that there should be very close oversight and supervision of the mechanics of the system in order to mitigate waste, reduce the pricing of materials, and reign-in unjustified service fees. Tort reform and the reduction of malpractice insurance rates would be helpful as well.

Scott the thread is gone. Good thing I guess as it was getting to where there would have been so many blocks that no one would be left to post. I still do favor parts of the new bill but not others. I guess time will tell. But seems that the costs are coming from pharmacitical costs, and drug shortages driving costs up. And I do still feel we would do better to provide money at home and not across the seas. I feel this would provide more money for our own needy. Just my opinion. Phillipa
