I spend so much time bitching.
I remember a story. Maybe it is urban myth. Part of what brought Yoko Ono and John Lennon together.
Lennon attended an installation of Ono's art. One piece required Lennon to climb a ladder to peer into a telescope.
This is what he saw: yes.
He decided he had to met her.

Tony Blair was fond of saying that it is easier to say yes than no, but that sometimes you had to something moral something authority something and say no.
I disagree.
Saying no comes very very easily to some people. It is the easiest option.

A young woman was looking after our house. A couple of days after we came back I noticed a white fluffy substance tinged with blood at the door. The next day our silly hound was off his food.
Do you know yet?

So we were worried because this doesn't happen with beagles. Then he started sleeping outside in a little nest. We took him to the vet. I told the vet the story 'I think he's eaten a tampon'. She was going to send him home with a laxative with an X-ray to come, but he threw up some water he had drunk there and she decided to keep him in. She operated. She removed five tampons.
'How old is he?'
'Seven'
'He's old enough to know better.'He comes home today. Four incisions through the bowel wall. Peritonitis is the worry. But apparently he is straining at the leash when taken out.

First of all I am delighted to have the word tampon brought up in civil conversation.
Second, your poor old hound :-( Jeez.
Well, I used to find them about the house if I wasn't careful. They'd be, umm, dessicated. Thank goodness not swallowed. But ours was always a picky eater....

To say yes and mean it, in all it's fullness, is very difficult. I find it a challenge. But I think it's a habit that can be cultivated if committed to. Like honesty. Or love. It's never perfect, but real intention is a powerful force.
