Rove (and voting)

Voting in the US is SO complicated.

We have this wonderful system that any numskull can understand, where you make a mark on a piece of paper, and that is counted by an independent body, watched by representatives of the candidates.

Anyway, this was the article which made me think of that....

Voting is complicated so it will be easier to cheat.

When I was a child, voting was carried out just the way you described it.......checking the box for the person you wanted to see elected. Representatives were there and the folded piece of paper was given to them...they recorded it and put the vote into a locked box....end of story.

I read the article when I got my newsletter. Rove is a piece of work. Acts as if he is the "kingsnake" of politics now. gag. I don't like James Carville either. :-)

I came across this other one I'm half way through.

It's an oral history so you get to hear the different voices, which is the interesting part. Here is Richard Clark

> Richard Clarke: That night, on 9/11, Rumsfeld came over and the others, and the president finally got back, and we had a meeting. And Rumsfeld said, You know, we've got to do Iraq, and everyone looked at him - at least I looked at him and Powell looked at him - like, What the hell are you talking about? And he said - I'll never forget this - There just aren't enough targets in Afghanistan. We need to bomb something else to prove that we're, you know, big and strong and not going to be pushed around by these kind of attacks.

> And I made the point certainly that night, and I think Powell acknowledged it, that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. That didn't seem to faze Rumsfeld in the least.

Richard Clarke: That night, on 9/11, Rumsfeld came over and the others, and the president finally got back "from reading "My Pet Goat". :-)

p.s. I really do like Richard Clarke and Colin Powell. Too bad Powell told that lie that led up to 9/11. That forever taints his credibility.

I'll try to read the article today. I'm babysitting my grandchildren, 3 and 9, and somedays I'm lucky to know who "I" am..much less turn the computer on. :-)

Good Morning, Sigismund!!
