What I hate about politics

Posted by happyflower on November 1, 2008, at 21:59:53

The dirty ads on TV and everywhere. I consider myself pretty open to things but I just don't understand how one group of people vote for a certain candidate because of only one issue.
I just believing looking into all the issues and candidates before making my choice. It really bothers me when my husband family who normally is democrat for many generations suddenly change because they don't like the race of a person.(they admit it openly) I hate if you choose a certain candidate it means you believe all the issues of that party.
Why can't I be free choice and Christian?

I don't like those things either (though I'm not hung up on the notion that voting for someone means you agree with them on all or even most issues; I'm much more pragmatic than that). I'm especially annoyed at the role abortion plays in American politics. I think it's really warped the results of election after election.

I agree, I guess I shouldn't worry what others think. Plus being Pro-choice doesn't mean we are Pro abortion either. I am in touch with some of my old classmates now, who are from a extremely conservative area of Indiana, and they are trying to tell me I am anti-Christ if I vote Democrat, that I believe in killing babies, etc.

Well okay if we outlaw abortion, what are we going to do with the children that are born who will probably end up in the welfare system. A lot of those young moms who have them are either too young to work, or in the welfare system themselves. OF course I am told that we have lots of couples who want to adopt. Well then why do we have so many kids who haven't been adopted? Well it is because we want a perfect baby of our own race. Well how many of those mom's are going to take care of themselves and the baby knowing they are going to give them up?
I don't like abortion, but I do believe in free choice. There are enough unwanted children already out there already, do we need more?
Okay I will get off my soapbox now. lol
