Seroqeul, active duty soldiers, rape, murder, Iraq

Posted by James K on January 11, 2007, at 1:56:17

My local paper today had a story about the young man from my state who committed rape and murder of a family of Iraqi's while serving. Turns out he had been medically diagnosed as unfit due to homicidal tendencies and put on Seroquel and put right back into active duty in the most dangerous part of the war.

I've been on that drug. How dare my government put everyone involved in danger in such a manner. He was crazy. That drug just knocks you out. It was him or them or his best friend. Death was guaranteed. He committed an atrocity, and my government knew enough to diagnose and medicate(incapacitate) him,(before hand) but not enough to put him out of the way.

Now he'll be executed or imprisoned for life as an example, and the people he murdered are gone forever. Guess what, he wasn't faking mental illness to get out of duty, He actually had it.

my SIL was on meds when he went and a lot of people in his unit were also taking ADs....when his unit hit a roadside bomb, the first thing that i thought of was his safety due to the precarious perch that he already had on being stable.....he pulled 5 people out of the fires and did his job. HOWEVER, he's back and he is NOT the same man that went over there. his MH is much worse and he and his family are really suffering for it.

these men aren't the first that were sent there and shouldn't have been and they won't be the last. it's called "desperation" and it reeks to high heaven of complete disregard for the human spirit.
