Canadian Gov't Adscam Scandal

Posted by just so sad on April 22, 2005, at 9:32:32

I haven't posted to this board before. I'm not really all that "political". I was just curious to see, of those who watched Canada's Prime Minister's public address on TV last night ( his name is Paul Martin for those who don't know), what you thought? My personal opinion is he seemed very sincere but I think it's too little, too late, and the liberal party has insulted the whole nation. I understand it was under the previous PM's watch, but he was in a great position to stop it then. I'd as soon let the Conservatives have another chance, at least to prove to liberal-loyalists that they aren't to be feared nearly as much as the liberals made out during the last election campaign. I mean, what could they possibly do that was worse??? Okay, very personal opinion, and I do REALLY appreciate other points of view. Promise.

Well, the latest poll as of Friday evening shows the nation very ticked off IF the Conservatives force an election over this. (Like, we just HAD one!) Conservatives don't stand a chance in Ontario or anywhere East, so they can try and change their name or whatever, but they just don't got *the STUFF*. Besides, the NDP will merge with the Liberals, and that will wipe out a big chunk of Conservative support.

IMHO...
Jay (Scandal or whatever....*remember* the days of Brian Mulroney ackkkkk!!!!!!!!)

Is this the typical Eastern attitude? The Liberals have proven they can do anything they please with taxpayer dollars with no accountability to anyone. I have often wondered how JC and BM arrived. Was it be another Liberal buy off?

I find it so great to be able to hear differing viewpoints - it broadens a persons whole perspective. It's interesting you still dismay at Mulroney's government while out west, many still despise the name Trudeau. My personal feelings are that no political party is above corruption, but as it stands, Paul Martin and the current liberal government has lost its credibility. And the media here suggests the polls reveal most Canadians DO want another election. I sometimes feel like subscribing to an Ontario newspaper just to get an eastern perspective! Anyway - thanks for your post - good to hear from you.
