local fire reflects global

I am so overwhelmed by this fire.
It was so hot that two fireman had their hats melt onto their heads.
Also the contents of the 4th floor disappeared.
Some of the beams had to be removed but the apartment was full of things that just evaporated.
Maybe I breathed them in as I was crying in the parking lot in front of the building?
Maybe I inhaled his mothers antique tea set?
Or a note from his father?
Or the cat they went missing?

I guess it's not like the whole town was leveled.
Falluja is all gone and we in town only lost one building.
I think the American military should look at the damage that one cigarette has done and forget "bouncing betty's" or bombs or bullets.
One little cigarette brought down a whole building.
Today the building stands silent.
The quite is deafening.
I can only imagine Falluja.

We could all do well to remember that war is destruction, to think of the smells and the horror.

Even supporters of a war's objectives should enter into it solemnly.

Thank you for the reminder.

That is one of the funniest pieces of writing I've ever been fortunate enough to read.
Thank you Jai.
