Hi, 1st post so short personal intro. 36 yo (as of 2009), live in Sweden, single, unemployed and on disability pension for psych probs, low education due to psych problems, live alone in own apartment, no pets anymore (had a cat), some social life, only few real friends. Had a long psychodynamic therapy (9 years) that helped me a bit, but not enough.
My formal diagnosis was AvPD which was later switched by other pdoc for unknown reason to GAD. Right now the newest pdoc agree with me that GAD is not correct. I want the old AvPD diagnosis back since it is spot-on,maybe with some other added, like dysthymia or something.
Meds: I am on Moclobemide now, since spring -08. Tried it before for three months but quit because of emotional flattening (thymoanaesthesia) wich made psychotherapy impossible. Since then therapy has ended and I chose to go back on moc again.
My problem now is the emo-flattening whick sucks and that I want some psychotherapy of somesort again, since meds only treat symptoms in my view. But therapy is expensive and even though swedish healthcare is rather cheap, they have little resources when it comes to therapy. That I got 9 years therapy was prob because of luck and a psycologist that fought for it.
That's it for now, will post in other forums when I know what to ask or say :-)

Hello Snubbel!
Welcome to Psycho-Babble. Thanks for giving us your intro. I hope you find a med that works without emotional flatness. You can post about your med problems on the medication board and someone might be able to give you some suggestions that you can take to your pdoc.
I hope you're able to find some inexpensive psychotherapy again.
