Hi.
I have observed that many times when i eat bananas, i feel agitated after some hours. A feeling of rage. Sometimes in the edge of mania.
It doesn't feel like an allergic reaction. I mean, i am allergic to pineapple and the symptoms i have when i eat it, are headache and flu-like symptoms. I feel like i have fever, etc.
None of them with bananas. Does anyone feel the same when eating bananas or knowns why this could happen?

Trytophan is in bananas, I think.
How do you react to straight tryptophan?

Could be potassium messes with your electrolyte levels or they just have too much sugar (even if its a good kind) or do you like them green or mushy? They do weird stuff to bananas to get them here green then the ripening is unnatural. I find I feel bad when I get tomatoes for this reason, little anemic hard and unnatural things. Anything else make you feel that way?

I like them like as most people. Sugar is out of the question. Potassium.. I know that bananas are particularly rich in potassium, but i don't know. Does it suppose to cause these symptoms?

Anything else make you feel that way?Fava beans and some fishes, comes to mind. I don't know about fishes, but both fava and ripe bananas are both reach in tyramine and l-dopa.
I know that tyramine neads a MAO-I to become psychoactive, so it could be the l-dopa... or perhaps the things they use for ripening, whetever these things are.

About l-dopa: I'm having some second thought on this.. I have tried pharmaceutical l-dopa and (iirc) i don't think it causes me any noticable mood changes. It does make me nauseous, though. Something that bananas doesn't...
