Went to doctor

Posted by Deneb on September 27, 2007, at 11:48:35

The doctor said at my age I would have sugar in my urine if I had diabetes. I got my urine tested and there's no sugar in it. He said that means I don't currently have diabetes.

I didn't eat a lot today, could that have affected the results?

I have to get healthy. I'm going to lose a lot of weight to make sure I don't get diabetes.

So the doctor told you to lose weight, Deneb? Is that right, because you're at risk for diabetes? Is that what he said?

What exactly did he tell you about your current risk for diabetes and your body weight?

He didn't say anything really.

He just said my urine didn't have any glucose in it. I asked him if that means I don't have diabetes and he said that means I don't *currently* have diabetes, but that doesn't mean that I won't develop it sometime in the future.

Deneb, the same could be said of any of us. I hope that your diabetes fears have been allayed.

Hi Deneb

If you want to be really sure, you could have blood work done to check your blood sugar levels. The main symptom of diabetes is excessive thirst. The best way to avoid diabetes is to follow a good exercise regimen.
