Hi,
I am going to use day time nicotine patches and gum as part of my quit plan to quit smoking.
I take a low dose of olanzapine daily.
I also use 1-2 cups of coffee a day.
I take diazepam as need.
What effect will transdermal or nicotine gum have on the above?
Thanx heaps!!

I'm sorry you've not gotten any response here.
I don't have an answer for you but can imagine you've got lots of questions and aren't too comfortable yet. Why did you not chose Chantix v. the patch and gum? (I'd like to quit too!)
How's it going for you?

Tks for responding.
I'm sorry you can't get Chantix there as I've heard good things about it. I can't afford to buy it and have it fail, as I'd then not have $ for cigarettes.
I've heard the same as you re: Zyban.

No problems, i quit smoking today, doing alot better than i thought i would... i feel a bit like im walking around in circles sometimes and having stupid distructive conversations in my head, but thats to be expected. I hear Chantix and Selegiline are actually better than Zyban.
My Dr has also put me on prozac, gives a new meaning to 'mothers little helper'. Im not noticing much difference with metabolism except maybe more of a response to diazepam, but im not going to complain about that.
By the way... borderline personality disorder. u?

Congrats and good luck. Prepare for possible speed bumps here and there w/ your cessation, ya' know, after the initial 'this feels kinda' good' feeling' feels kidna' uncomfortable. It was these times that always sabottaged my attempts.

Good. A lot of people do real well w/ it.

I just looked into morning glory seeds. Interesting. New knowledge.
Nope, I'm not male. But, I understand your situation. You're right about some of us seeming one in a crowd.
As well, I've been through DBT and there was 'just one man' in this 5-6 person group.
I've been here for quite a few yrs and you're not alone in your gender&dx.
Maybe you are sensitive to your feminine side as I to my masculine side. I believe this 2b a good thing.
There are very many good peeps at this site.
You can feel quite safe in 'escaping here' anytime need arises.

Hey aminos4me ... was thinking about you last night, and thinking I may have said something wrong in my last post to you.
Pls don't misunderstand my statement about being in touch w/ your feminine side. I didn't mean this is any way which you could possibly take as offensive. Okay?
I am a gal who likes guys only (in a partner relationship) but have some masculine qualities, the biggest one being my personality, i.e., I'm not one to sit and giggle at a man's every joke and I do tend to speak my mind when having an important conversation w/ a man.
This is all I meant by saying I'm in touch w/ my masculine side.
Just thought I should touch base w/ u re: this, in case I'd possibly upset u with prior statement.

Haha, well i ended up eating a few berries from what i thought was deadly night shade, turned out to be black night shade and i slept for an entire day. Kinda stupid i must admit. These are things i do in order for a quick escape.
LOL i am in touch with my feminine side, ask my boyfriend hehehe. just a question do u use any amino acids or natural supplements in your med regime? i use l-tyrosine, multis and protein shakes. The protein shakes themselves seem to help ALOT, i dont know why but i guess it levels out the ups and downs of calorie intake which can have an effect on mood. Just a thought anyway!

Too funny!!!
I just lost about a five paragraph followup to your post. When this happens, so upsetting, need to re-group and start over a little later.
I spoke about malic acid, which I've not yet tried. Also used to take Thompson (now Sundown) Runner's Formula which was really good re: enzymes. Now, enzymes aren't the same as amino acids are they? Maybe they work together.
In meantime, also interested in L-tyrosine. I should know more about it, but all I can think of is it's a stimulant. I've had chronic fatigue and am on Provigil (Modafinil) and was wondering if there was an alternative to it that was successful.
Maybe you could post something like 'My Top Picks' over on the Alternative board, if you want, that is. Or, if you'd like, I could do so and you could followup.
Often Dr. Bob or one of his deputies will move a thread like ours to another board if it begins to take on the connotation of another issue like alternatives. I'm assuming you're new to this site. Maybe I'm assuming incorrectly.
I'd love to hear what seems to help you most; your top picks.
After re-grouping I'll return to this thread and re-type all I lost. (I know better than to shrink this window. Won't work. Goes away FOR GOOD!)
Will re-reply as soon as can. Having a little anxiety this eve'.
sincerely, 5f
ps: What is our time diff'?

Hey!
I went ahead and began a post on the Alternative board called Top Picks (?).
Maybe you can add something or answer some questions for me.
