Okay, then I guess by your response you haven't tried either one, but thanks for the follow-up anyway.

Hi Snowie,
I know someone that has had success with Alli. She doesn't have an eating disorder, she is just overweight. I say that because being bulimic what I call overweight is not what I guess you would say a normal person calls overweight. End of disclaimer.

Poet,
I don't have an eating disorder per se, I would just like to lose a few pounds and have been on Xenical but it doesn't seem to be doing much in terms of extra weight loss.
Oh, I didn't know that this was an eating disorder section. I just thought it was about food or eating in general.

Hi Snowie,
This board is aimed at Eating Disorders, I think Eating is a confusing title because not everyone who eats has a problem with it.
Are you going to try Alli? From what I've heard through my friend it seems to work.

Poet,
I noticed I misspelled "Alli" so I corrected that. Anyway, I posted this message on the Health board too, but no response. Yes, this section should say "Eating Disorders" instead of just Eating. Eating could mean anything - I assumed it was about dieting.
I've been on Xenical (which is stronger than Alli) for a couple of months and haven't noticed the pounds coming off any faster but I'm hoping it will help lower my cholestrol if nothing else. When I eat fatty foods I sure do pay for it several days later though, so you would think it would be working wonders, but I can't say that it is.

Hello
Sorry if my post was abit curt, I didn't mean to offend or anything. I have not tried either of those drugs. I just think its healthier to go about about these things without the aid of pharmacy - but this also extends to mental ill-health, which really isn't an opinion that the majority of people on here share with me, so I do realise that any help I offer will usually be met with distain. So I don't mind if you don't like what I say.
But have you tried adding any exercise to your weekly routine? I've managed to lose quite abit (like 6 kilos or 13 lbs) of weight simply by cycling everywhere. Plus it feels really good to cycle! Anyway.....

Meri,
No, you didn't offend me. You are entitled to post your opinion and I am entitled to ignore or accept it. In the end, we all have to make our own decisions about health, albeit mental or physical.
To answer your question, yes, I'm walking every day when I get home from work. I bought a pedometer and I'm up to almost 3 total miles a day. And I agree with you, it really feels good to exercise.

Hi Snowie,
With Alli I know you have to really count fat grams, plus it helps flush fat from your system so I would think that it would be a way to lower cholersterol. The woman I know on it has lost I think seven pounds and started it in June when it was first made available.

I don't get it. If you stick to the low fat diet you'll lose weight with or without the Xenical. If you don't, you'll have to wear Depends. Cecilia

I know what you're talking about!!! I have had a few instances where I ate a high fat meal and because I knew what was coming, I did have to wear adult diapers. Mostly, because I have started sticking to a low-fat diet, I don't need them and I've recently lost 6 lbs., but I can't say for sure that it's because of Xenical.

Thanks, Poet. When I first started taking Xenical, I took it with a high fat meal, thinking it would alleviate much of the fat and calories from my food - sort of letting me have my cake and eat it too. The side effects were horrible, and I don't think I lost any weight. I still take Xenical and still have some treatment side effects, but nothing like when I first started taking it. I try to watch my fat intake now and the treatment side effects have been minor. I cheat occasionally, but I know I will pay for it several days later!
Poet, did the woman who lost 7 lbs. change her way of eating to lose 7 lbs.? In other words, if she changed her way of eating, might she have lost 7 lbs. without Alli? Thanks.

I really don't think you should be posting all this info on this board. As an anoretic, I now want to order these pills from internet. :(

Maxime,
You're probably right. When I first posted, I didn't realize that this particular board was about severe eating disorders until I had already posted, and I can't delete posts. I then posted on the Health board. That having been said, you need a prescription in the U.S. to get Xenical. Alli is available at your local pharmacist.

Hi Snowie,
From what I understand she is carefully following the 15 grams max of fat per meal and is walking more. I don't believe she joined a gym, but I can find out when I took to a friend this week who works with her and sees her everyday.

Poet,
Thanks. I'm not following the diet exactly. I only take the pill once a day - in the evening - because that's my biggest meal of the day. If I eat breakfast at all it's a Slimfast. I need to lose about 50 lbs....yikes! I hate scales so I didn't know I had gotten so fat! I'm so miserable, but I did buy a scale and I'm weighing every morning now.

You can buy any medicatin on an international site for medications. You pay through the nose, but I will do anything to lose weight.

They're talking about Nutrisystem in a thread above this one. Are you planning to try that as well? I think you can order Nutrisystem online.

Poet,
Maybe there should be a board to support those who over eat, and those who under eat. I thought this board called "Eating" was about eating issues. The fact that I've resorted to extreme measures such as Xenical should be a testament to the fact that I gotten pretty desperate.
I'm so sorry to have offended. No need to redirect. I will go away now.
