I have frequent stools (3-4 per day, 5-6 if I am stressed even a little bit) + gas + borborygms. I have tried loperamide, it works for decreasing the number of stools but causes important dyspepsia + more gas + more borborygms. I am not at all satisfied by loperamide. Antispasmodics have no effect. What else could I use? I presume it is a psycosomatic problem.

effexor??? yeah, so it's an anti-depressant but it has constipation as a sometimes nice side effect, if one's GI tract is prone to such irritablility and high motility
good luck

In fact, I already take effexor since July, 2005. It is for a depression. I feel fine now and the dose is reducing. Unfortunately, effexor has not changed my bowel problems.
