Half way through my workout last Wednesday, my achilles started to feel very tight and I couldn't do the high impact cardio part of my workout. I proceeded to walk home (1/2 hour) in skimpy flip flops and by the time I got home I was practically dragging my foot it hurt so much. Then I had to take me dog out for a walk (actually 2 because I got in and found out a showing of my house (it's for sale) had been scheduled while I was out that morning). Anyway, it has been four days and it is still really sore and very difficult to walk.
My question: How long does it take for a torn/pulled achilles tendon to heal? And, besides R.I.C.E. (rest, ice, compression, elevation), what can be done to help/speed along the healing process and facilitate walking?
I want to get back to the gym!! This is driving me nuts!!
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
