Hi. Anyone suffering w/ chronic pain???
My PCP is considering prescribing me Avinza, but am not looking forward to the 'morphine' effect.
I took morphine sulfate for a week, years past, and voluntarily went to a hospital to 'get off everything'.

My PCP just mentioned it as I was leaving my monthly 'fill my oxycodone scrip' visit.
I'm afraid it is an extended release morphine.
Once I was on morphine sulfate .. think told you; I voluntarily went in for a 'total detox' a week later!
Seems no one here has heard of it. I'll have to do some footwork on the net myself (well, fingerwork that is). Guess I can get kinda' lazy w/ friends here and their help.

Yep .. it's morphine.
I think morphine must be cheaper to come by than codeine?! I guess it's stronger than codeine. He is prob' talking to me about it because I had break-through pain twice in the last month. Gone now.
Some people like morphine, but my week on it was 'crazy'. I didn't like the way it affected my thoughts.
So it's a codeine vs. morphine thing.
I don't want to go there.

I believe morphine is stronger than codeine a narcotic. Used for the worst pain. Love Phillipa

I believe they both come from the poppy seed.
All I know is one seems to be less 'mess w/ your thoughts' than the other, for me at least, and that is codeine.
I think there was a posting where one of the above said there were quite a few things between codeine .. and .. morphine, that could be tried instead of morphine.
I'm going to see if I can find that thread around here somewhere.
Hey, I think I like this tricyclic! Well it's just the first day, but I awakened feeling a 'little happy'. The P chose norpramin, since I seem to get 'side effects' so easily, even knowing about my pain issue.
Maybe I should throw this post over to the babble board?
