I think I may be worrying myself sick, researching the various medical conditions that I've been diagnosed with or could possibly develop. Of course, it's not stuff like "depression" (I'm nauseatingly familiar with all of those potential complications), but the slimmest chances of things that could go wrong in other areas. Meanwhile, I feel extremely stressed out, as though my adrenal system is on overload, and I'm worrying about dying.
Any suggestions on how to deal with this? On the one hand, I'm motivated to research as much information as I can so that I'm amply prepared to prolong life. On the other hand, I realize that I'm stressing so much about all of the information that I'm gathering (people's hearts exploding, etc.), that I'm making myself feel worse. And it's hard for me to get to sleep because I'm too ridiculously scared!
Suggestions with how to deal with this? At what point to let go and not chase after any particular additional information?
Gosh, it felt so good to write that down...
Thanks, all,
hb.

Hi, Phillipa,
After that long-winded rant, I'm feeling much better. Sort of have been diagnosed. I mean, I've had allergies and asthma all my life. Then there's the depression/anxiety. And I just found out that I have mitral valve prolapse. More than anything, though, I think that my overthinking, worrying, and rumination were/are setting me into a panic.
Feeling much more Buddhist about it now.
How are you? I always look for your emails and am so impressed with the balance of warmth and compassion that you bring to them. I love that you often sign off "fondly." It's rather beautiful.
