The isolation is almost unbearable

Posted by bobbie on January 17, 2006, at 20:17:47

I havent posted here for a while and now I just needed to talk.
I am now home bound since my electric wheelchair no longer is reliable enough to leave my house to go anywhere esp with the weather like it has been lately here. I now live alone and have no caregivers or visitors more than maybe once a week.
I have gone for as much as three days and not seen anyone or spoke to anyone because of my fear of being caught out in the elements and not being able to get home independently.
I guess Ill just have to pull myself up with my boot straps and deal with it.
I guess I just mostly fear that I would not be able to get out of my home on my own in a hurry if something bad should happen.
I am ashamed to admit I am depressed and feeling forgotten.

I'm so sorry to hear you are housebound right now. The social board has been fun lately (except for me) so maybe you could hang out and answer the general interest questions people have been posting.

We all need people in our physical life, but boards can fill in to a certain extent.

I think you predate my time here, but welcome back anyway.

James K

Hey. I know I get pretty down when I'm not getting enough people contact :-( Sorry to hear it is hard for you to get out this time of year.

I think the boards can fill some of that need for social contact. It is a bit different... But I reckon it is a whole heap better than nothing. Have you read any good books lately or seen anything on dvd / tv?

I managed to get the first season of the soprano's from the library a couple days ago and have really been enjoying watching those. I'll go back tomorrow and pick up the next season.

Can you invite some people over to play cards or something?

I dunno...

Just trying to chat...

:-)

Thanks for your concern. I have been able to find an advocate to help me get my new wheelchair. I do see a light at the end of the tunnel. Just wish it would happen soon.
I have been trying to fill my daytime with daily tasks that I CAN still do safely within my home.
I am also trying to keep my mind busy with the upcoming Olympics. I have always wanted to learn how to ice skate and admire people who can.
Thank you, all,for caring.

I'm so glad that you were able to find an advocate. Do they come and visit you?
