My thyroid test this last summer was "perfect," but I still have several symptoms that could be hypothyroidism. Soooo the doctor was looking at me hard and then started feeling around my neck and found a nodule on the thyroid or parathyroid. Going for an ultrasound next week.

Sorry. I hope my sense of humour wasn't too inappropriate.

Better safe than sorry, getting this checked. Let us know what the results are?

Larry,
Far from it! It brought a smile to my face.

Hi!
Hypothyroidism runs in my family. My dad's doc found nodules on his thyroid gland and they were surgically removed to rule out anything cancerous. From what I understand, they are usually harmless like colon polyps. My dad never did have to take synthroid as his bloodwork came back in the normal range. I used to have to take the synthroid (lowest available dosage daily) but I started getting heart palpatations so I discontinued the med and my bloodwork since has been borderline normal.
Good luck!
Colleen

I had two nodules on my thyroid. It turned out to be cysts. They are gone now. The doc told me that many, many people have nodules on the throid.

Thanks for your reply. My blood work came out okay, but I'm not sure about the scan. I need to call next week or so. I'm not sure if the nodule showed up on it or not.
