I just went up to 300mg Effexor from 150mg. Effexor was great in the beginning for my lower back pain and sciatic. They've begun to act up again, but I MIGHT get more relief once I'm on 300mg a little longer. Does anyone know what I can ask my doctor for to augment the Effexor for my pain? I'm so uncomfortable some days that I get that shooting pain down my leg every time I take a step. Suggestions, please?!?

Sounds like sciatica to me. Did you slip a disc? Babblemail me and we can discuss it. Fondly, Phillipa

That is what it sounds like to me as well. I had this real bad when I was pregnant and then afterwards. I seen a chiropractor and that took care of most of the symptoms. Good luck.

Hi!
If I slipped a disk, wouldn't the pain be constant? It comes and goes and some days are really bad. I know it's sciatica and have been to the chiropractor for many treatments, but the benefits of it seem to poop out quickly.
Still trying to figure out how to treat this!
Thanks,
Colleen

I wish those chiropractic treatments would keep the pain under control, but it's not enough. Thanks!

Every tried asking for a pain med like Darvocet or Vicodin? The pain issue seems separate from your psychiatric isues - so why not talk to your general practitioner about the pain?

First an x-ray and MRI. That's what I had. Fondly, Phillipa

Exercise is good for sciatica. Your doc can probably give you some info. on what's good/what's bad.
