Does anyone know of any good endocrinologists in the Washington, DC area? I am looking for someone who is open-minded and makes diagnoses based on not only lab data, but also patient-reported symptoms.

Dr. Ace Lipson is considered very good. I don't know, though, about his method of interacting, as far as discussing thoughts you might present-he is very thorough in taking a history and doing a physical exam. He is downtown- on K st.

I usually like to go to clinics of hospitals connected with medical schools these doctors keep up to date and see a lot of patients.
I think that Georgetown University's endocrinology clinic would probably be good. Or Hopkins. Sometimes the endocrine specialist at these clinics is an internist who is an endocrine expert.
Do you have a diagnosis or history of an endocrine disease? If not, I would recommend an internist since they might be better able to diagnose and deal with comorbid symptoms.

I have not had a diagnosis yet. My primary care doctor ran a battery of blood tests, but said that everything "looked" normal and that he couldn't explain my symptoms. He recommended that I go see an endocrinologist.
After reading about various endocrine disorders, I am thinking it is possible that I might suffer an endocrine disorder. After years of exploring other possible causes for my debilitating fatigue, I am ready to go down the endocrine road.
Your suggestion about seeing an internist who is an expert at endocrinology is a good one. That helps me out in narrowing the field.

Another thing I would suggest is getting a hold of the Washingtonian (what ever month had the Top Docs article) and seeing if any of the top endo docs are covered by your insurance. I'm seeing one of them for the first time in January. He's located in Reston, so if you still haven't found one by then let me know and I'll tell you if he's any good.
