Bacteria

Ok. The doctor found a bacteria in my friend's urinary tract that went in the blood. Has this ever happened to anyone? How long does it take to get better. She has been sick now for 3 weeks. She will have to be on meds for at least six months.

I've read stuff about urinary track infections. It sounds rough, but survivable with medications.

I have had the odd urinary infection before. They cleared up relatively quickly (just a usual course of anti-biotics).

I'm not sure about when the infection gets in the blood...

I hope she feels better soon.

Lynn, I had a UTI and antibiotics wouldn't respond for some reason. I had never had one before but was on a strong antibiotic for 14 days, then 6 months of a low dose antibiotic before the bacteria was gone. First and last one ever?? Usually, anytime there is an infection in the body, it will show in the blood. UTI's are fairly common so ur friend should be fine.

Did it make you tired, tired, tired? She gets up a little while and then she is tired again?

If it is indeed in her blood it is called septicemia. And a long course of antibiotics is needed. Usually started IV. Fondly, Phillipa
