So... something is stuck in my throat... UGH

Posted by spriggy on September 23, 2005, at 22:48:05

Out of all the crazy/weird symptoms I have, this one drives me absolutely crazy.

They found a goiter so I suppose it could be causing this sensation. Although, to be honest (and a bit gross, LOL), I feel like there is a ball of snot in my throat.

Sometimes, I feel like I could hack it up- and literally feel like it's making it's way up, then I swallow and down it goes and gets lodged right in the center of my throat.

Some days it doesn't bother me as much but it's always there. It seems to be worst a few hours after I eat.

I'm tempted to stick my hand down there and yank whatever the heck this is out. It is driving me crazy.

Any thoughts???

* My rx is fibromyalgia, hypoglycemia, Epstein Barr (yeah I'm on a serious roll), probable lupus (going to see rheumy to verify), and GAD with occasional panic attacks*

I had a very similar sensation forever and couldn't get the doc to take it seriously. Mine got worse in humidiy and was not as bad in the winter, but it felt very very much what you have been describing. Turned out to be a sort of atypical asthma that is very nicely controlled by Singulair. Good luck - you have lots of dx to manage, but all in all its better than not being able to get a dx at all. Hope they stop dx you sooon and get a good tx plan going!

Oh yeah, I forgot to add asthma to my dx list. ROFL

I had it as a kid and this summer it came back with a vengence.

They put me on Advair (and Albuterol inhalor) as needed.

The Advair gave me thrush so I quit taking it.

Maybe that's the problem- never occurred to me it could be from the asthma.

But when you have 101 diseases, how do you know which one is the culprit? LOL
