These Lupron shots ($600 per shot) are part of my treatment. There is a series of 6, i have had 2. I get them every month but b/c they mess with your hormones it is really making me moody and agitated. They told me this was likely and very common but Im miserable and I dont want to make the people around me miserable. I know it is the shots b/c that is just so uncharacteristic of my behaviour. Anyone have any suggestions before I lose everyone I care about?

Did you mention that you were bipolar in one of your previous posts? Or am I thinking of someone else? In any case, I have one word for you:
Lamictal.
I know some kids who used Lupron for precocious puberty and used Lamictal as well for seizures and it really stabilized their moods and made their parents really happy. (As you know these hormone problems can cause chaos in the family.) I use Lamictal at a fairly low dosage and it helps a little bit (I don't have bipolar, though).
Lamictal works on depression as well as mania, etc. etc. The one problem is that it takes a while to get to the therapeutic dose. I don't think it takes more than a month or two to get to a good dose, though (I forget--it has been a while).

hi ive taken lupron shots for a long time this is my second dose of it. my first dose was for 6 months and i was fine no side affects .. now im goin on my second dose and in my second month and it has been he** !! hot flashes and moodswings memory loss night sweats !!! it has been horriable !!!! if u dont mind me asking what are u on lupron for? im on it for endometrois and fibrods

glad to know im not alone. I am taking it in conjunction with northindrone acytate and radiation treatments for ovarian cancer. It started as endometriosis and polycystic ovarian disease- just got out of control, very quickly. Havent had hot flashes yet ,only had two shots, but let me tell you i have become a bitch! One minute im fine, the next I am bombarded with anxiety like symptoms and am severly agitated. I wouldnt blame everyone if they didnt want to be around me right now. Im afraid it will only get worse. the bad thing is feeling like i do not have any control since it is a chemical thing i cant just will myself out of it. Ask your doctor about the northindrone. It is usually given in conjunction with lupron to help with the hot flashes... been trying to work with my psych. dr. to try to find some AD that may help with my moods but so far nothing has helped. Anything work for you? What do you do to combat the mood swings? Are you bipolar? My psych. dr. said ppl who are have an exceptionally hard time. Did yoiur first series of shots not help you is that why you had to do another 6? I hope I dont have to, this is just crazy. Thanks for responding, its nice to know im not alone!
