Hi, My mother in law had both of her adrenal glands removed and is not sure what her prognisis is. She is taking medication but doesn't seem to feel too good. Will this condition remain a constant thorn in her side or will she ever get back to almost normal with medication? She tries to exercise 3 or more times a week but is still rather fatigued on a regular basis. She also has "spells" where she literally cannot move. Any suggestions? I told her I would look into this on the web as she is not too good on the computer. Any info would be greatly appriciated...

Why did they remove them? My mother had Addison's disease. She was treated with cortisone in the 50's before they knew how dangerous the drug can be. She used to go into crisis regularly and they tx'd her with ACTH. She was very sick. Fondly, Phillipa

One gland had a tumor on it but the surgeon removed the wrong gland by mistake. They had to go back in the 2nd time to remove the other one. The gland that was removed by mistake was healthy. So I think it was probably not addisons disease. She is just really concerned about the quality of life that she can expect with this horrible mixup. Any info is greatly appreciated as I cannot seem to find much on the internet about what to expect after the surgery. Thanks alot!!!!
