Does anyone know what the cause would be for an elevated ANA level??
My doctor just got back round 2 of tests and this one is showing high ANA levels as well.
Could medication be a cause for this and symptoms?
I am really trying to avoid the Lupus diagnosis. Just curious if Restoril would be connected in any way (may be a far stretch!).

Not only is it not specific to lupus (it's positive in other disorders, as well), some normal (asymptomatic) people have it.
Sending you to a rheumatologist is the important outcome. For some reason, you are showing an autoimmune response. It might take a little time to figure out why.
In the meantime, there is probably no better treatment than those OTC anti-inflammatories (Motrin?).
You'll likely undergo a number of further tests, to narrow things down.
I'm sorry you don't have a clear answer yet, but the trail is growing warm.
Best,
Lar

Spriggy I know this is late. But I just found you. I have an elevated ANA. In my case it was probably due to the lyme's disease. I have been tested for lupus and a few other of the autoimmune diseases and the tests were negative. Now it's still elevated but way down. When lyme's was active it was l880 or there abouts. Now it's l:l20. Inderol can cause a false positive. I know because my sister took inderal and she had a high ANA. She stopped it but her ANA is still high. She says she has lupus but doesn't take any meds for it. I think I am one of the people who just have an elevated ANA. A rheumatologist told me that he thought I had a mixed bag of autoimmune diseases. I choose to ignore him. Fondly, Phillipa
