The dark hair and the missing periods are probably related. Both can be caused by estrogen imbalances, which can also make your other symptoms worse.
Both amenorrhea and that dark hair are known symptoms of anorexia, by the way, which is not your problem, but the cause in AN is the estrogen imbalance. Talk to your doctor about this, Missy. This is one for your GP, and not as a panic thing. Just a case of, "Oh, and by the way, this hair is bugging me and my periods have stopped." The meds you've been on can also be culprits for all this. Remeron especially is associated with weight gain.
Good luck, nd let us know what your dr has to say.

You might want to get checked out by an endocrinologist. Could be the PCOS, as you said. I have insulin resistance, which causes hormone changes similar to PCOS. My PCOS tests were inconclusive. While you're seeing an endo, get your thyroid checked out, too.
As for the hair on your head getting darker, doesn't that often happen in adulthood with blond hair?

pcos is the culprit.. i have and they gave me metformin for it .. however i didn't stay on it too expensive and i stopped.. i have financial difficulties so that is why.. when i took the metformion/glucophage i felt better and i noticed that hair you talk of doesn't grow as fast and i didn't think my head hair was getting any thiner.. good luck

pcos is an "WHOLE" body aliment.. it will affect your hormones, hair, patuitory gland...etc... have them treat you with metformin.. not just the pill.. cause all it does is make ya bleed and doesn't do a thing for the rest of the problems..
the woman obgyn's think we should bleed because they do.. truth is twice a year is fine.. my mother is 82 and this is a family history and no cancer...if cancer runs in your family then pay closer attention.. other wise don't let them just make you bleed. it is a surface fix...also it will help you get pregnant and you should probably be on it for part of the pregnancy so you don't have complications..that is the metformin i meantrucker

the hair problem, and periods and the weight can all be attributed to the polycystic ovary syndrome which is actually an excess of male androgens and also insulin problems.
this condition can actually be corrected by using the drug metformin/glucophage and most endocrinologists are aware of this.
i would suggest you see if you can get on this, and it may solve many of your problems.

once i began to take the metformin it seemed that the meds i didn't need as much for anxiety.. plus my body felt like it was more alive than it had been in years..the right dosage help with the hair .. the WEIGHT.. the whole body problem...it was explained to me on each of your body's cells there are these little pore like things.. and there are about 5 or 6 i think on each cell.. well with pcos.. only a couple work on each cell.. making you starve to death even though you are gaing weight and hungry all the time. those little pore like things when they move and funtion like they are supposed to they process the food you intake. so in essance.. you are starving cause your cells are malfuntioning.. if that makes sence to you.. it will also make it almost impossible to get pregnant and if you do finally get pregnant with out the metformin and doctors close survaliance you may have a bad outcome. that is what happened to me. and my pregnancy loss..
