After what I've been through, I think that I will stick with Bayer on a full stomach when this is all said and done. My body obviously doesn't tolerate these meds very well at all, even if I don't notice any problems while I am receiving relief from my symptoms. I know that it feels like I have a hole in my stomach already from whatever it's been through, and that's more than I can handle. I don't want to take anything to complicate things any further. Taking it easy has always helped me; so if I'm in pain again, maybe that, too, is an option. I didn't even realize that Aleve is the same as Vioxx, and I had been taking that as well.

Hey girl. I talked to my bro-in-law last eve, and he said an alternative to Vioxx is Aleve. He is a Merck rep. Are you sure it's the same? I'll check w/ him next time I talk to him. cf

As I recall, Aleve can/does cause problems w/other organs, also. (Liver?) I can't really remember what my late husband's oncologist said (since in my present state I'm lucky to remember my name!), but I know he didn't want him on it.
I believe I read recently that they're now investigating the Lilly (?) equivalent to Vioxx, also. So...back to 5 mg. aspirin, enteric coated if one has a stomach problem.

Believe my bro-in-law said Aleve had less 'liver/organ' destructive properties than Vioxx. cf

That may be. It could be "less". BUT...on what scale with each individual? As I recall, when my mother-in-law's MD put her on Aleve he also put her on another drug to counteract it's side effects.
On the other hand, when one is in pain, who cares about the side effects if it alleviates the pain. Or at least right at that minute.

I had to go to greath lengths just to get triamcinolone injections by PCP and pain specialists; which didn't work. Still they refuse to give me Depo-Medrol. How do you manage to present yourself as a candidate for get Depo-Medrol? cf
