I'm going to set up a whole program including trying to reset my sleep/wake cycle, sleeping more, drinking more water, getting a little exercise, eating right yada yada ...
Here's what I'm thinking of adding in terms of supplements. Please let me know what you think:
Your article said to add an adaptogen. I might try the rhodiola again (I bought a couple of different brands). Also, I read a post on another board where the person said that the first week he also felt like his head wasn't clear and it was hard to think but that went away. I didn't get energized at all as he did right away but it still might be worth another try (if only to fix the adrenal situation). If that doesn't work out, then I'll try ashwagandha. I read that gingeng (all types including Eleuthero) is not good to take if you have hypoglycemia (so that might explain my bad reaction to it). Anyway, I'll probably add SJW down the line for mood and immune system enhancement. I read in Dr. Richard Brown's book that there are no known contraindications for rhodiola (except for one and I don't remember what that was) but since they both have some serotonergic activity, I should probably cut back on the doses of both, ya think?
I used to take maca for menopausal symptoms and it worked wonders for a while. It's also an adaptogen (though I didn't see it listed in your article - I wonder why?) so I'm wondering if that would be an option here if the rhodiola doesn't work out or to take to alternate between them.I'm also thinking of taking Jarrow Green Drink. It has a lot of good antioxidants and a little bit of licorice. Hope I can stomach it.
Your article recommended taking 800 mg. of phosphatydlserine a day!!!! I'd have to be very wealthy to manage that one. So that's out of the question. You're probably aware of the controversy around PS anyway. Since it's now made from soy and not cows, it's not exactly the same chemically. The tests on its effectiveness were mostly done on the earlier verison from cows. Dr. Sahelian and others think that it might not be very effective now and it's much too expensive to purchase just for the possibility that it may be helpful. Do you have an opinion on that?
I asked you in another post about triphala and probiotics so I won't go into that again here. Also, I'll add l-tyrosine (or DLPA) as recommended in the article.
Once I get the book Simus recommended, I'll refine my program more but for now this is it. Are there any other kinds of holistic treatments that I might benefit from that you can think of? My crazy neighbor recommended Quigong (sp?) which probably isn't a bad idea. I'll try to meditate also but I haven't been very successful in that in the past.As you can see, I am determined to feel better, have more energy and not be depressed for once in my life. Hope I can keep this determination.
Thanks in advance for your input. I'm going away for almost a week and may not have access to a computer so I may not get back to you on this for awhile. Wonder if I can handle a week without psycho-babble. Yikes, I think I may have yet another problem....

I forgot to add that I already take a good multi and B complex and Ester-C plus a little fish oil and EPO, extra E etc. (I think I may have said all of them in another post somewhere.)
Also, I'm planning on adding Alpha Lipoic Acid, Co-Q10 and Ginkgo.
Hell, why don't I just buy the out the entire supplement store! Once I start on this program I may be happier and healthier but I won't have any time for a life (I'll be too busy chugging down all of these supplements) not to mention that I won't have a dime left to my name!
Oh well, hopefully it'll be worth it.
This is the end of the thread.
