Questions about thyroid dysfunction

Posted by sb417 on July 21, 2004, at 1:42:02

For those of you who have hypothyroidism, what sort of symptoms did you have before you were diagnosed? For a number of years, I've been on the border of hyPERthyroidism with nearly undetectable TSH. In June, for the first time in years, my TSH was in the normal range. In the past few months, I've noticed some physical changes that might possibly indicate hypothyroidism. I've been a lot more tired than usual. My nails are very brittle. Nearly every day, I find at least one or two more chipped nails. I've noticed a lot more hair coming out in my hairbrush, and in the past month or so, I've had more constipation than usual. I haven't gained any weight, but I thought that might not always be the most reliable indicator because one of my cats is hypERthyroid but very overweight! It is possible to have normal TSH values and still be hypothyroid, right? And one more thing, is this post on the correct board? I wasn't sure whether to post here on or PB.

Re: in this case, either board, thanks for asking (nm)
