OK. (Big swallow.) I was the inspiration for the Couch Potato. Hadn't been a member of a gym since * 1986 *. My T kept reminding me that would help me become happier and less stressed. My p-doc told me to exercise.
I tried yoga. (Had to hang around for an hour and a half after work to participate in a class. That was the closest studio I found. Plus it smelled mouldy and moth eaten.)
See? Aren't I persuasive? So I dropped yoga.
I bought a bicycle. Only, I live in a climate where you can cycle for about 3 months out of the year. The rest of the year you'd be dead of heat exhaustion.
Instant out!! Too hot to bicycle!! We always forget the water, and that's so DANGEROUS! So, sorry, I won't risk my health to ride around in 85 degrees and 90% humidity. The only time I don't sweat is when I'm in my car.
WOW. So the recommendation is for Curves (sorry guy, only women). 30 minutes from when you walk in until you're back out the door. 3 x a week. It's like a room full of well-trained hamsters.
3 minutes on a machine. 3 minutes jumping around on a platform. They tell you when to "go to the next station", so it's machine, jump around, machine, jump around etc. until you've gone around the circuit of hydraulic machines and jumping platforms three times. Then you stretch out and stop sweating, and you leave.
In 4 weeks, I have lost over 10" from my all over body measurements. I started this to make me comply with my doctors' treaatment plan. Now it's nice to see mt cottage cheese tummy start to lessen a bit. I won't be wearing a two piece ever, probably.
It is really easy. Easy to do, easy to schedule into your day. No personal training going on here, but they sure you aren't yourself.

Sounds great - I've always wanted to be one of a group of well-trained hamsters!
All kidding aside, I'll have to check it out when I can afford it. Thanks for the recommendation.

I'm glad to see that Curves is working for you! I've known many people that have gone there and haven't seen any results. It was too hard for them to commit to being there and they didn't work out hard enough to lose weight. For some, it was easier to enroll in a class that was a set time every week and had an instructor *pushing* you to do your best.
This is the end of the thread.
