Any diet success stories yet?

Posted by Wildflower on May 10, 2004, at 14:27:47

I know a few of you were trying to lose weight. Any success stories? I need inspiration as I begin my slim down process. I'm not overweight but I can no longer fit into my clothes. I wore shorts yesterday and a comment was made about all of my shorts being "hot pants". I responded that they weren't intentionally that tight. I think the person felt bad for commenting and I felt bad for letting myself go.

yes, yes yes.....yes

I am finally on a roll.....
my diet is paying off.
I am doing the Atkins. I do 2 weeks on strict diet then 2 weeks of maintaining.
I added to this diet Green Tea and CLA. I don't know which one is doing the trick but I am now down 13lbs. It's been slow...since this last December but it's steady and I look different and I'm not done yet. I would like to weigh 135lbs. So I have more to go but now I feel some hope where I never felt it before.
Thanks for asking.

I am losing weight now but to be honest I think it's due to being put on Wellbutrin XL (or R or whatever the once a day one is). It *erased* any need I felt to snack. So, yes I am losing weight, but it feels like it's being done to me, just like the weight gain was.

I'll take it any way I can get it. I'm down 11 lbs off the 20 I gained on this rollercoaster.

Congrats Jai and Partycloudy!

Looks like you've both lost weight using very different methods.

I don't have the willpower or the love of meat to stay on Atkins nor can I rely on Wellbutrin. The Wellbutrin really didn't help in losing weight. Actually, I gained weight when I stopped taking it.

I'll keep looking for that magic diet that will help me with the 10 lbs that I'd like to lose.

I think it is a terrible irony that so many of us put on weight with ADs, and then the extra weight contributes to the depression! My p-doc always dismissed my concerns, saying we would address it after we got the depression under control. I know it made/makes me feel so much worse to have a poor body image complicated by putting on weight when I'm trying to get better.

It is horrible! It's hard enough to get up in the morning but it's 10x worse when you try to get dressed and find that your clothes no longer fit. Heading to the mall and spending unecessary money is such a burden.

There is that whole debate about if you would rather feel better or look better. Why can't we have both?

My guess is that as wonderful as these medications are, they still need to be more specific in addressing the <insert condition here> in our brains. I think the weight thing is an overlap into our overall metabolism. I bet chemist would know!

Good luck, drink lots of water, have carrot sticks handy (and dental floss for after). Oh and I personally like to munch on popcorn as long as it's not too much like packing peanuts.
