Why do you ask? With any question the first place I turn to is the scriptures. After reading through the hundreds of references you have a pretty good understanding of the topic. Here are a couple that caught my eye.
External service is useless where there is no devotion of heart and life;
and
We believe that religion is instituted of God; and that men are amenable to him, and to him only, for the exercise of it, unless their religious opinions prompt them to infringe upon the rights and liberties of others; but we do not believe that human law has a right to interfere in prescribing rules of worship to bind the consciences of men, nor dictate forms for public or private devotion; that the civil magistrate should restrain crime, but never control conscience; should punish guilt, but never suppress the freedom of the soul

my take:
Devotion is worship. It is what is in our heart and soul. We can go through the motions of worship and love without it but without devotion nothing counts. It is doing good for the right reasons. Or doing bad for the wrong reasons. We can be devoted to a wrong cause and kick against the wall. To get the most out of devotion, our devotion should be centered in God because from there it will spread out and fill the earth.> what does devotion mean?
