Straight Up!

Posted by whisper55 on March 19, 2004, at 12:36:29

When we can't pray someone is doing it for us in our weary times. In the bible David among others had severe depression, I like to read pslams because I can feel what he did, however it is faith and with or without depression it is the path to a better way. A link that tell about depressed people in the bible. If I didn't have my depression I'd be farther away from God.

Amen whisper!
As for prayer when you can't pray here is a site that I use occasionally. It is run by the Irish Jesuits, but you do not need to be Catholic to benefit from it. Green Hornet

I agree completely. Depression tends to make me feel so alone, and sometimes even abandoned by God. When I read the Psalms, where David so sincerely pours his heart out to God, it feels as though I could have been the author of those words. I draw great strength and encouragement from the words of David, because he always had a way of pressing through the darkness and moving into a higher place, praising and worshiping God.

I used to be very independent when I was healthy. But when I was diagnosed with a chemical imbalance, I came to realize how little I am, and how big God is. That is when I really developed a relationship with Him. I now survive daily by the grace of God alone. But His grace is sufficient for me. =)
