I tried to go off of Effexor three years ago and was unsuccessful. The withdrawals were too intense and I was becoming almost catatonic. I started going off of it again last week and this time I am still having a lot of symptoms of w/d, but I am more focused on my daily, minute by minute walk with the Lord, and its helping me to deal with the effects of w/d. I can't really explain it, but I recommend it highly. If you know Jesus as your saviour, let Him help you get through this junk. Sometimes just a reminder that we have Him is enough of a spark to get us to reach out. Try not to shut off your common sense; I know its hard right now, but try. I'm praying for everybody who is on Effexor and trying to go off of it.

By sharing, the sparks of faith are fanned in others too. Thankyou and may the Lord bless you in your day to day struggle with w/d.

Hi Sweetpeamom (what a lovely image your name gives me!)I just read your post from January about going off of Effexor. How's it going these days? Are the withdrawals gone or at least lessened?
I went off Celexa cold-turkey last month & I survived (barely) for three weeks, & then I finally caved in, called my Dr. & asked to be put on Lexapro (Celexa "lite" - as far as side-effects go, anyway). It's been a hard road. I follow Jesus, too, & I just wasn't sure what He was trying to tell me re. the meds. He seems to have led me into liturgical dancing in my church (after years of neglecting dance), but the meds don't let me spin - I get too dizzy ("Oh, look, dear, she's overcome with the joy of the Lord & she just fell on her face!"). My Dr. let me have it for quitting cold turkey, & he's a believer, too, so maybe God is talking through him (?)...sigh... it's so hard to know sometimes what God is or isn't saying to me.
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed the way you encouraged others even while you were in pain yourself. I hope you're more balanced these days. Write if you want.
Shalom, Dena
