I'm not handling it very well. I'm also not very good at deciphering the subtleties of social interactions.
How should I deal with it? Why would someone ignore me? I worry that I did something bad.
I'm pretty sure this someone is indeed ignoring me. I asked this person directly and didn't receive an answer.
I don't know what to do. :-(
I feel sad about this.
I don't think this person is a bad person. I really look up to this person and I thought this person was my friend. I'm really confused.
Let's make sure this thread is civil.

you're not alone!

Ask yourself what you did. If you don't know, ask someone else.
> I'm pretty sure this someone is indeed ignoring me. I asked this person directly and didn't receive an answer.did you ask face to face? if so, how did they react? with anger? embarassment?
If you did not ask face to face, how do you know that they heard your message?

I'm really confused.Maybe you asked for advice or help, and the person is overwhelmed right now, and is unable to give you what you deserve? your friend might feel guilty and is avoiding you because she knows that she hasn't been there for you. You trigger his or her guilt, even though you did nothing wrong? All pure speculation. That's usually why I avoid people. From guilt or shame.

I don't think that's it, but it's good to know there are other reasons for ignoring me than being angry.

Deneb,
Here are some of the reasons I ignore someone. This is just someone, anyone, no one in particular, not you okay?
1. I'm tired and depressed.
2. I'm busy.
3. I don't know what to say.
4. I'm frustrated.
5. I've tried to talk to/help this person before and I don't feel like she/he is understanding what I'm trying to say.
6. I want to say something, but I'm not sure I can be civil.
7. Somebody else already said what I would have said.
8. My computer is giving me fits.
9. I don't feel like anything I could contribute is worth saying.
10. Am I ignoring someone? I didn't even notice!MB

Deneb,
I totally sympathize with your situation. My so-called best friend is currently ignoring me. He refuses to return phone calls & emails. One of my cats died last week, which he knew, and I had to beg for even a condolence email. It's been brutal not having my friend and confidant. But from what little he has said to me, he's not in a place right now where he can be my friend. It's unfortunate b/c I'm in a place where I really need a friend.
Anyway, I hope we both can work out our friendships soon. Best of luck.
