Would my background of being briefly hospitalized for depression in my 30s make me not be eligible to adopt if I wanted to do that in my 40s?

I honestly have no idea. Adoption seems to be very difficult these days in any circumstances. :(
Both my friends who adopted went to Russia. The four children (two for each couple) are adorable. One has health concerns that require surgery. I'm not sure what the regulations are for potential parents.
