Well, seeing as I'm not smoking, I am making sure I am treating myself to things *grins* So, hence a nice Amazon order.
First "The man who mistook his wife for a hat" by Oliver Sacks. Highly reccomended by my boss (who originally trained in neuroscience), so I'm really looking forward to reading that.
Second, "A million little pieces" by James Frey.. I know the whole thing with Oprah, but apparently it is a very good read for any addict, and some people at work want me to test run it!!
Then, "To say nothing of the dog" by Connie Willis.. Amazon keeps reccomending it to me (on the back of "Jasper Fforde"'s books!) so finally broke down!
And, then, just to make the box up to free postage *l* I added "Whats in a name?" which epxlains where the names of each tube station in London come from!! *grins* Yes, I am a geek *L*
(I doubt very much that it will link. I can't find a link to Dr Bobs UK Amazon shop, and I can't be bothered to sign out of my own amazon, and sign back in again after! Sorry!)Currently reading "Oh, Play that thing" by Roddy Doyle, and enjoying it so far, but I've only read the first chapter!! *L*
So.. thats been today!

I really enjoyed this, some of the stories are just incredible. Also enjoyed his others "The Island of the Colour Blind", and I'm can't think of the others - grrrr.

Can you let me know how this one goes as I've been resisting the temptation to order in for a while now.

Haven't read this one, but really enjoyed "Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha" and another, the name of which escapes me.
Happy reading!

if you enjoyed Paddy Clark, read "The Woman who walked into doors" as thats the sequel..
I loved "The Barrytown Trilogy" too ("The Van", "The Snapper" and "The Committments")
The one I'm reading is a sequel to "A Star Named Henry"
not sure what will link out of all that as I'm posting in a rush!!
Oh.. and Oliver Sacks - I read "Awakenings" and thought it wonderful!
I like this non smoking malarky when it means I can but lots of books!!

I got a box from them on Tuesday, but it was mostly pregnancy books, from when I got that positive test. Makes it hard to open it now.
But I will, because it has "The Big Over Easy" in it, which I will be reading next, I think. I need something light, after reading "No Graves As Yet," and with all the other things going on...
Tell us how you like "To Say Nothing Of The Dog," because I might maybe want to read that, too, if you like it. I need More Light Books. (Would that be diet books? Maybe not...)
Oh, and did you read that I ordered and read "Shadow Puppets," even though I'd already bought and read it a few years ago? I kept thinking it seemed familiar, but then thinking maybe it was telling a story he'd already told through another character's eyes in one of the other Shadow books... DOH!
Enjoy your books. I'll try to enjoy the one fun on in my box.
This is the end of the thread.
