The Guardian, a british newspaper, compiled a list of the top 20 best geek novels, written in English, since 1932..
Some great books on the list.. and I've read 15 of the 20 which isn't bad *L* I'd have some higher, and some lower (eg, "Snowcrash" is in my top 5 books.. and "Microserfs", I believe, is the geek bible so deserves to be much higher.. but then, I hated "Neuromancer" completely!)
Anyway.. the list is:
1. "The HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy" -- Douglas Adams
2. "Nineteen Eighty-Four" -- George Orwell
3. "Brave New World" -- Aldous Huxley
4. "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" -- Philip Dick
5. "Neuromancer" -- William Gibson
6. "Dune" -- Frank Herbert
7. "I, Robot" -- Isaac Asimov
8. "Foundation, Isaac Asimov"
9. "The Colour of Magic" -- Terry Pratchett
10. "Microserfs" -- Douglas Coupland
11. "Snow Crash" -- Neal Stephenson
12. "Watchmen" -- Alan Moore & Dave Gibbons
13. "Cryptonomicon" -- Neal Stephenson
14. "Consider Phlebas" -- Iain M Banks
15. "Stranger in a Strange Land" -- Robert Heinlein
16. "The Man in the High Castle" -- Philip K Dick
17. "American Gods" -- Neil Gaiman
18. "The Diamond Age" -- Neal Stephenson
19. "The Illuminatus! Trilogy" -- Robert Shea & Robert Anton Wilson
20. "Trouble with Lichen" - John Wyndham

Hi Nikki,
Interesting list. Never thought of myself as a geek but I really did enjoy "Stranger in a Strange Land" and of course HitchHiker's.
Take care,
Damos

Not only do I consider myself an honest-to-goodness geek (without the great grades in skool), but I'm gonna read the books on the list that I have overlooked!!

Hmmm.. only just noticed that the last few weren't linked..
And yes *giggles* I'm so pleased I'm not the only one who feels the need to read the ones I haven't..
