Would anyone be interested if I started book club-like threads on particular books that we all seem to have read? Things like talking about the authors' backgrounds, plot devices, and our opinons on the books, beyond that fact that we really liked them?
I miss my book club (aside from the snotty women who were in it). You lot are ever so much nicer to speak with!!!

I am *definately* up for that *grins*
maybe we could do it "old skool", like we used to, and pick a book between us to read and discuss.. Maybe have a few threads started for people reading at different speeds?

Sure - I would like to even revisit some of the books I've read up till now. Renew the appreciation, if you will.
And I can throw in some new skool book clubby stuff too.

I just realized that Nikki will be more than a little left out, if we pick this. How would you feel about changing to something else, that Nikki hasn't read?
How about "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister?" It sounds worth while, and then Nikki will have something new, too?
Let me know -- I'm ordering "Ruby in the Smoke" right now, one way or the other...

I think I was hoping for more of the "His Dark Materials" and set myself for a letdown. And maybe I feel that the character development wasn't as deep. Or maybe I'm full of it...
It has made me interested in finding out more about the opium wars and England's involvement in them.
How about you, Nikki?

My problem is, I read them all in the wrong order, and so alot of the "picture" had already been set for me.
I think the next two books are the strongest of the series.. the 4th is much weaker, and not all that great really. *washes my mouth out with soap for saying that about the wondrous Mr Pullman* Or maybe the romance in the next books is what carried me off and I missed the rest *L*
Nikki, who seems desperate for romance in her life!!
This is the end of the thread.
