*g* I'm totally stuck now, and beflummoxed -- that's a word. You could look it up -- by one of her recommendations, "Aberystwyth, Mon Amour," by Malcolm Pryce. In fact, I'm cross eyed by it. As a result, I can hardly manage to sleep with wanting to read 'just one more page...'
[shakes head wryly] I'm sure that I'm missing half the jokes, but right now I'm twisted like a pretzel because it's so absurd! LOVE it, Nikki, just love it. I've gotten about half way through in a day, just because it's so -- absurd. The only complaint I have is that the Girl Scouts haven't shown up, but that might just be that they're too American to be relevant. If he were writing in America, he'd have the Girl Scouts or Campfire Girls lined up against the Druids.
Thank you for the recommendation, Nikki. Next I'll have to order "Last Tango in Aberystwyth."

Well, for a start, we have The Guides, not Girl Scouts *giggling*
Strangely (well, maybe not so strangely *L*) the reccomendation was given to me by a guy I met in the queue to get our books signed at the Jasper Fforde thingy.
Amazon has just reccomended "To Say Nothing of the Dog" to me.. hmm.. now that looks interesting too!!!

I've added that to my wishlist, too. I'm thoroughly enchanted with the Pryce book, even without The Girl Guides.
My ex-bf called today to recommend something called "Another B*llshit Night in Suck City: A Memoir." I am not sure it's my cuppa, but he's liking it a lot. He's also pushing Charles Lamb pretty heavily these days -- as well as Jasper Fforde! He sent me a book a while back called something like, "Biff" which is a memoir of Jesus as a teenager? I'll get to it, but have a huge stack growing by the day right now.
I look forward to our next exchange!
This is the end of the thread.
