Amen. I have a book that Ralph Steadman wrote about Hunter's cat, called Jones of Colorado (I won't bother to link it because it's already out of print). Ralph illustrated "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" - the front cover of the paperback is permenantly etched in my brain any time I get messed up in my head.
Hunter was a very cool cat, too.

I was saddened by his death. He inspired me to not accept lies and hypocrisy. I'm sick of the pundits saying that his writing is the end of an era. If that is the case, then god help us all.

He lived around the corner from us when he was writing "Hell's Angels", and my father used to take me out a lot, hoping to run into him, because he used to pay attention to me and my father could bask in his presence. I don't remember it, too young, but that was one of the stories I heard so often when I was growing up, how Hunter S. Thompson thought I was the cutest little thing...
