I'm game! I just started John Irving's "Ciderhouse Rules" but I can come back to it later.

I would LOVE it. (nm)

What did you have in mind? I was sort of thinking that, when i finish the stack nearby, I would start looking for that "Artemis Fowl" you suggested, but I have to get "Lirael" and "Abhorsen" read first, of course...

So, I'm probably up for it, now that I can finally read again! Tell me what you're thinking of.

> I just started John Irving's "Ciderhouse Rules" ...

I'd just like to plug the double double quotes feature at this site:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#amazon

The first time anyone refers to a book, movie, or music without using this option, I post this to try to make sure he or she at least knows about it. It's just an option, though, and doesn't *have* to be used. If people *choose* not to use it, I'd be interested why not, but I'd like that redirected to Psycho-Babble Administration:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/admin/20020918/msgs/7717.html

Thanks!

Bob

I'd like to join, but I need to be an audit member, cause I can't necessarily commit to anything fun until my "d-word" is proposed.

Cool!!

OK, what I was thinking (yes, I ponder in bed *L*), was if everyone that wants to join in emails me a book suggestion, and then I shall print, fold up and get my dearest beloved husband to draw one out of the pot!!

I think we need to stick to fiction only though.. what do you all think?

I think I'm gonna have to ask GG to forward my suggestion on, since your email doesn't like my email... {{sulk}} Dratted Yahoo accounts!

I'm looking forward to this! Let's make it light and frothy, 'K, ladies?

Yes, I think fiction is a good idea. Here are some suggestions:

"The Jane Austen Book Club"

"Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell"

"Life of Pi"

"The Time Traveler's Wife"

"Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West"

Frothy is good - Minnie-Haha had some great suggestions... "Shopgirl" by Steve Martin would be my contribution.

Me too! I've never been part of a book club, but it is something I've wanted to do for a while. Sounds like fun! Who knows, maybe trying it out on-line will help make it easier and less intimating for me to join something similar IRL. I'm happy to read whatever the majority decide.

Another option is to use the Unfortunate Reading Guide and have a Lemony Snicket group? I just downloaded it from "his" site, and it might be fun, since we have the questions already written -- maybe we could reward the most outrageous answers?

Oh that is hilarious!!!!!

This one nearly killed me laughing.. "5. Does anything in your life compare with the
anguish the Baudelaire children encounter in THE
AUSTERE ACADEMY? If so, how terrible for you.
If not, how nice. Discuss."

And this one.. "10. Each of the books in A Series of Unfortunate Events
is dedicated to Beatrice. When HarperCollins
asked Mr. Snicket about this mysterious woman,
he burst into tears and was unable to answer. Is this
an appropriate author for young readers?"

If nothing else.. this DOES have to happen on here!! *L* I must find out if they do them in multi volumed books.. Im thinking I must have been in wrong frame of mind for them when I read the first one eons ago!!

Hey Nikki,
Did you get any suggestions? How about you make some recommendations?

Also, off subject...any tips for doing psychotherapy with a British-American?
