Books I've enjoyed

Posted by Minnie-Haha on January 20, 2005, at 19:15:46

I've used the PB Medication for some months now. Thought I'd contribute to this board with a list of some books I've enjoyed: ones I've read (or re-read) in the past year, and just some old favorites, too.

"The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency"
"Tears of the Giraffe"
"Morality for Beautiful Girls"
(all three are part of a series by Alexander McCall Smith)
"The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" by Mark Haddon
"Out of Africa" by Isak Dinesen (way better than the movie)
"A Confederacy of Dunces" by John Kennedy Toole
"Roughing It" by Mark Twain
"Galapagos" by Kurt Vonnegut
"Cosmicomics" by Italo Calvino
"Don Quixote"

I absolutely loved "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night" too. You might want to have a squizz (aussie term for look) at "Running with Scissors", "Dry" & "Sellevision" by "Augusten Burroughs". Other absolute favorites I've seen recommended by others here are "The Eyre Affair", "The Well of Lost Plots", "Lost in a Good Book" & "Something Rotten" by "Jasper Fforde". For something brilliant and emotionally effecting you might want to try "The Lovely Bones" by "Alice Sebold".
