Any Carl Hiason afficianados out there?

I think he really captures the flavour of Florida.

The name sounds very familiar. Gimme some titles.

I knew the name sounded familiar. But when I looked up Carl Hiason on Amazon, none of the titles rang a bell. So I searched a little further and found Carl Hiaasen (note the spelling), who wrote "Basket Case" and "Sick Puppy" which I did read and enjoy. As I remember, they both were very clever and funny books. Is this the writer you were citing? If so, I recommend "Practical Demonkeeping" and "Coyote Blue" by Christopher Moore - two of the funniest books I've ever read, and enjoyed by everyone I recommended them to.

Yes, I misspelled his name and didn't bother reposting (lazy). I'm a Florida resident and love his take on how the state's natural resources have been ravaged by real estate developers and how his renegade characters take the state back, dirt pile by dirt pile. He's a columnist for the Miami Herald and I like to read it when I'm in town.

I lived in Broward County for 3 years in the 80's. I came to the conclusion that all of the residents should be thrown out and the entire state become a National Park.

LOL! I'm on the gulf coast (Pinellas county) and I thought the best effect of the last storm was that so many store and hotel signs were ripped down, blown away, or bent in half. It really reduced the visual pollution.
