Awwww... Poor empty babble Books!!

Had slight detour from my reading list due to some books I was waiting to come out..

After reading "The Eyre Affair", followed by "Lost in a good book" and "The Well of Lost Plots: A Thursday Next Novel" (I have to put all of that in for Amazon.com to link to it!!) by Jasper Fforde I moved onto

"hey, Nostradamus"

Wow.. that is a very intense book.. very sad.. harrowing is how I described it to my hubby.. I always enjoy Douglas Couplands writing.. and again this was a wonderfully written book.. But a) I would have liked closure at the end (I hate open endings in a book thats not a series!!) b) it was just so sad.

Then the 5th book in the No1 Ladies Detective Agency series came out "the Cupboard full of life".. these are really good fun books.. nothing strenuous in the reading, and light hearted.. basically alot of fun!!

I'm now reading "You Shall Know Our Velocity" by Dave Eggers.. enjoying it so far.. I adored "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius" so hoping this will be atleast close in enjoyment to that.

Then, WOO HOO, on the 26th, the 4th book in Jasper Ffordes Thursday Next series comes out!!! Its "Something Rotten", but I will be waiting until the 29th to get my copy, as on that day I am off to a reading and Q&A session by Jasper!!!! He'll be signing the books afterwards, and the ticket price included £2 off the book.. I'm SO SO excited about this.. I love meeting authors who's books I love! Annoyingly its coming out in hardback and I much prefer paper back.. but I've emailed Jasper (*lol* seriously, I have!) and asked whether there will be a possibility of buying a trade paperback anywhere.. There was a paper back proof copy go for £55 on Ebay at the weekend *l*

And, on top of that, I went to work last week, and just opposite my office they're opening a HUGE Waterstones book shop in September!!! Yay about that!!!

And J and I have booked a weekend in Wales next spring to go to the Hay on Wye book festival, which is really famous here in the UK and loads of fantastic authors do readings and the like.. Thats gonna be FAB!

So all in all, an exciting book month!!!

I've heard that the Hay on Wye is just amazing, a book lover's paradise.

I had such a long spell of not being able to concentrate long enough to get through a page of writing. I feel like I'm just getting back up to speed.

(Aren't these archives confounding???)

Sorry about that, it should be fixed now. Did it affect other boards, too? I guess I'll see in a minute...
