Oh yes, that was a doozy. I had selected it for a book club I was in and then I reconsidered because I thought the group would find it too unbelievable. I chose "Life of Pi" instead (like that was believable??!!).

i read it over christmas break and my sister read over my shoulder. i finished it in less than two days and ended up leaving the book with her, so that she could read it too. (the part she kept reading over my shoulder and why i remember this and not my own class schedule, i'll never know, is the part where they thought they could tell the future by certain "items"... she thought that the "corn meant they would be farmers" part was especially funny... i have to agree!!!) i really liked the book and wanted to get his first memoir (oh oh ohhhhhhhh.. darn memory... i don't want to look it up and i refuse.....) i'll get it sometime and the name will come to me in a few days, so watch for it. i'll post it out of nowhere. dang it, it's driving me bonkers that i can't remember the name. cripes, i'll look it up if i don't think of it soon.... but, i really liked his mother and the way he described her. seems he didn't leave anything out.

I'd just like to plug the double double quotes feature at this site:
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#amazon
The first time anyone refers to a book without using this option, I post this to try to make sure he or she at least knows about it. It's just an option, though, and doesn't *have* to be used. If people *choose* not to use it, I'd be interested why not, but I'd like that redirected to Psycho-Babble Administration:

Thanks!
Bob

It was a book that just sucked me into it. It's an incredible (as in unbelievable) tale that gave me insight into what we consider truth. And his take on faith struck a chord with me - the main character created an amalgman of beliefs that, although they seemed contradictory, perfectly suited his needs.
