the current book,by o'brien, I may not be able to finish...the emotion is overwhelming me... What is it about "just" reading a book can be so overwhelming. For some people they can keep a distance, but some of us,whom I call "sensitve" get roped right in...and then, again, sometimes I can read a book, or see a movie and it doesn't bother me at all...go figure.

Now you've intrigued me enough to want to try to read this one. I didn't think I'd have the time.

I'm sorry this book is a problem for you. I should have mentioned that it was intense when I nominated it.
I prescribe one Ben Elton novel as a tonic.

I've honestly only read one of his books, and it was completely frivolous and full of froth (which I thought would be a perfect antidote to too much intensity).
A friend did tell me that some of his books have interesting messages behind the humor, but as I've only read the one, I'm not too sure. He originally started as an English satire comedian, I think.
