How about Goodnight Moon?

Sorry, I'm just jealous of everyone's time and ability to concentrate right now. I hope I can contribute when I get to books with words :-)- judy

You know, I was thinking of Goodnight Moon last night. Even though it's simplistic and a children's book, for some reason it has a calming or 'serene' effect on me.

It's a classic bedtime story...saying goodnight to everything before you go to sleep, basically, and as the story progresses, the room gets darker, and ends with "Goodnight Moon"

I still have the book, but haven't read it for years...

Judy,

How about you sign up little Babblette for the book club and you two can comment on Goodnight Moon no matter what book we end up selecting. You will probably earn us a reputation for great literary insight that way.

I love that suggestion! As long as nobody else minds, I think there's great wisdom to be found in some of these books, especially Dr. Suess. Take care, judy

I think I am passing my penchant for black humour on to our kids. Last night I had my husband read "The Hapless Child" by Edward Gorey to our boys (almost-3 and 4). It, er, definitely does not have a happy ending, but it was a nice change from "Goodnight Moon."

I have never visited this board. But the first string I saw was for my favorite all time book. Simple pictures, a little rhyme, a visible shut down of the day by the end of the book, neat pictures (black and white), the little old lady whispering hush, and a little tiny mouse (my personal favorite) who moves about on each colored page. I was really excited (my life was really slow then lol) when my children each were old enough to look for the mouse but not old enough to remember where he was on each page. Alas, that skill came way to soon and they grew up way to fast.
