Next Reading Selection

Posted by kiddo on April 7, 2002, at 22:17:54

I thought in honoring the memory of sar, we could vote on one of the books nominated by sar...

1.) Cat's Cradle

2.) The Road to Los Angeles

3.) Portnoy's Complaint

4.) Girl Interrupted

5.) A Prayer For Owen Meany

There is no obligation to vote for one of these, however, if you'd like to vote for one please do so here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/psycho-babble-open/surveys?id=897561

Thanks,

Kiddo

I'm sorry, this wasn't my thought, but suggested by those in the chatroom tonight.

I think this is a great idea, Kiddo. Sar had a lot of good suggestions. She was obviously a voracious and intelligent reader.

Gee whiz, (Is that Jesus' urine?)

I think I will have to read a novel for the first time in nearly three years. I need this distraction-somehow. I have a love/hate relationship with academia and I like a voluntary read. Let's hope it is as good as Garp. Weird, a coworker was taken away in an ambulance tonite (diabetic shock), and I am listening to the soundtrack of "Oh Brother Where Art Thou?". Too freaky.

Looking for the book

I went out today and visited 5 used bookstores and combed the library. Fortunately a helpful librarian found the last copy in the stacks. It turns out there is a "literature" class reading it right now and all the used bookstores are o-u-t...I did some finger counting, that makes at least 8 people...who bought used or checked out copies. Very i-n-t-e-est-i-k, and there are 14 people who voted....do you all live here?

I shudda gambled and bought it last week like I was thinking.

Hi Susan,

I tried to *vote* and got too much stuff for me to deal with (filling out forms), and I just gave up. So now it just happens, this *is* the book. OK, a fact. I like facts. I haven't even looked just yet-but I have jotted it down on a yellow sticky note to get this weekend.

How do we know if we are on the same page or not?
LOL

Mitch
