Would everyone please put their vote from the "Book of the Month" thread ( http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/books/20020206/msgs/74.html ) in the Subject line and use book 1 and book 2 for their first and second choices?
It will be easier to look through the list. (That's what I was hoping for earlier, just didn't explain it very well)
Jane helped me get it going, and hopefully it will work better this way!
Thanks jane, it was fun!!!

Thanks for taking on this task. I think the way we're doing this is not bad but let me throw out a possible modification. What if we had a designated person each month come up with the names of say 4 books? Maybe this could be done through the same solicitation process we've used here. Post the names of 4 books and everyone may vote for 2 of them not necessarily in any order. The top vote getter wins. I think ranking the books is awkward because I'm not sure you're going to come out with any sort of a clear winner and I think it would be better if our choices are limited. Those favorites that don't make it can always crop up again when it is their proponent's turn to choose.
My system doesn't get around the issue of what happens if the book is of a type that the leaders don't want to discuss.

Is confederacy of dunces fiction?
Let's alternate by month, and if you want to be the leader on one type or the other, you just wait until we are on that type. Ie, if I only want to lead on non-fiction, I would opt to lead on the alternate month when we are doing a nonfiction book. Sound ok?

I think something on that was suggested in the beginning and it was kinda shot down, because some may not like any that are suggested and wouldn't participate, etc....I think it's in the beginning thread...

I think Dr. Bob is still taking volunteers...he kinda wanted to keep it with a couple of people I think for continuity...
